Faculty consists of members of the Four Winds Foundation founded by Debra Chesnut in 1993.The course material has been carefully selected through the collaborative effort of a specially formed committee of people with a wide variety of skills, knowledge and years of experience.
To date we have graduated two Spiritual Warrior classes.
The first class was a one-year program, one full weekend per month over a period of 12 months (alas, that included the summer months). It was very intensive and the main problem with that format was that it did not accommodate people who lived outside of the community. The positive aspect was that it kept everyone on task and created a more intense experience for learning.
The second class was a two-year program of week-long sessions, twice per year, approximately 6 months apart. The positive aspect of that type of format was that it allowed people who did not live in the Fairbanks area to attend. The negative aspect was that it cost a great deal more money because of travel plus room and board expenses and lost wages for the week-long absences from work. It also left too long of a period between the sessions which caused a lot of ‘drift’ (I hope you know what I mean) and despite the lengthy time to complete the ‘homework’ assignments it actually resulted in the participants doing less practice because it tended to be put-off or forgotten.
The current live stream format is considerably different from the two previous classes and necessary due to the nature of the rapidly changing times.
The live stream broadcast will allow us to reach people outside of the community of Fairbanks without having to incur so much travel expenses and time away from work. This includes two 3-day weekend sessions per year, followed by monthly live stream broadcasts between the sessions.
